Panel discussion + X3 live podcast recording with Julia Boxler, Ani Menua and Faina Yunusova

In a joint conversation with Julia Boxler and Ani Menua, the artist Faina Yunusova, who is of Uzbek origin, discusses questions of cultural appropriation, hybrid identities, migration and transculturality: What exactly does the juxtaposition of these words mean for everyday life and for people who do not want to or cannot confess to a single identity in their family histories? How are questions of belonging transformed between the professional and private spheres, and what contribution does humor make in dealing with them?

Since 2020, the X3 podcast has been dealing with "PosOst", Eastern European and post-socialist migration discourses and multiple affiliations under the direction of Julia Boxler and Ani Menua. Together with changing guests from science, culture and politics, topics such as intercultural localization, decolonization, anti-discrimination, anti-classism, war, flight and expulsion are discussed.

In her practice, Faina Yunusova deals with cultural identity, memory and social narratives in the digital age. Through media such as painting, video, AI and performance, she reflects on post-Soviet heritage and the fluidity of belonging between geographical, real and fictional spaces.

Julia Boxler works transdisciplinary in journalism, film and podcasting. She is a moderator, speaker, juror and director on topics related to "postost", conceives and moderates festival and talk formats.

Ani Menua is a writer, artistic researcher and curator. In her interdisciplinary artistic practice, she focuses on resistance through language, multilingualism and artistic intervention. She also translates from Armenian and Russian into German and conceives and curates artistic projects related to PostOst. In the 25/26 season, she is co-directing the literary series PostOstCafé at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin.
