Erich-Maria-Remarque-peace-prizeOpening concert with shadow theater
Israeli actress and singer Marina Maximilian is making her first guest appearance in the city, where she is opening the 1st Osnabrück Jewish Culture Festival. On September 4, she will present an exclusive cross-section of her repertoire in the OsnabrückHalle and will also host the evening, which begins with a performance by the Cologne ensemble Die Mobilés, in an extremely charming manner. The theater makers, known for their shadow theater "Moving Shadows", have recently won several awards, including the Creativity and Audience Award at the world's largest comedy festival "Juste pour rire" in Montreal. In Osnabrück, Die Mobilés will use shadow theater to illustrate Jewish history in a flash.
Marina Maximilian's remixes (including "Hurricane" and "Glow Now") have gone viral in recent months. However, the club-ready songs only reflect one facet of the classically trained musician's fascinating sound cosmos, which oscillates between jazz and pop in her songs and will also interpret songs by Marlene Dietrich in Osnabrück. For example, "Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind" will be performed in German.
She was literally born with musical scores: Her mother worked as a piano teacher in Dnipropetrovsk, her daughter learned the instrument at a young age and later continued her training at the conservatory. In 1991 - shortly before the end of the Soviet Union - her parents left their Ukrainian homeland and emigrated to Ramat Gan near Tel Aviv with their three-year-old daughter.
The artistic talent did not go unnoticed there: in 2007, Marina Maximilian came second in the TV format "Kokhav Nolad" ("A star is born") with her interpretation of Israeli pop songs and folk songs. The record deal was not long in coming. In 2008, she sang a duet with Boaz Mauda, who took part in the Eurovision Song Contest for Israel in Belgrade that same year. "Mi Haya Ma'amin" became a hit that was to be followed by many more. However, Marina Maximilian initially approached her career as a singer-songwriter with caution. In addition to several singles, she released two albums ("Step into My World", 2013 and "Armonot Ashan", 2018) with Hebrew and English lyrics. This was followed by the critically acclaimed albums "Together" (2021) and "Late Bloomer" (2022).
Parallel to music, Marina Maximilian started her acting career. At the age of 15, she was already on stage at the renowned Cameri Theater in Tel Aviv. In this country, she is known for her role as an office manager in the Netflix series "Fauda".
In addition to her artistic work, Marina Maximilian makes time for volunteer work: this includes distributing food to disadvantaged Holocaust survivors and working for the organization "Helping the elderly".
