Der ambivalente Herr Calmeyer – Chronik einer umstrittenen Würdigung

Who was Hans Georg Calmeyer? Was the lawyer from Osnabrück one of the most successful rescuers of Jews from the Shoah or a compliant executor of the National Socialist occupation policy or did he correspond to the prototype of an "ordinary German" who gradually became entangled in a criminal system through numerous compromises and concessions. The documentary "The Ambivalent Mr. Calmeyer" attempts to approach the elusive person of Hans Calmeyer and his actions in the Netherlands. To this end, it accompanies people from Germany and the Netherlands who have been dealing with the question of whether - and if so - how the well-known Osnabrück resident should be remembered. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director and historian Reiner Wolf.
