The Peace Prize
Every two years, Osnabrück awards the Erich Maria Remarque Peace Prize.
Erich-Maria-Remarque-peace-prizeThe exhibition of the Lower Saxony Memorials Foundation focuses on the international interdependencies and global connections that existed in Lower Saxony from the very beginning of the Nazi era. From the early phase of the Nazi regime to the systematic mass extermination, it sheds light on the progressive radicalization, but also shows moments of resistance and humanity.
Important focal points are individual fates and the self-assertion of those affected as well as the scope for action of the "Volksgenoss:innen" and the motives of the perpetrators. In addition, the exhibition addresses the history of National Socialism in the Osnabrück region on several occasions. This includes the fate of a Polish forced laborer, Krystyna Ochocka, who was imprisoned in the cells of the Osnabrück Secret State Police.
The exhibition runs from 12.01. to 31.05.
