The Peace Prize
Every two years, Osnabrück awards the Erich Maria Remarque Peace Prize.
Erich-Maria-Remarque-peace-prizeThe planetary adventure begins with Luna and Felix. The journey will last many years and take them past all the planets in our solar system.
First of all, they will pass by the spectacular International Space Station to the hot planets Mercury and Venus, which are close to the sun. The bubbling sun with its huge eruptions of matter is particularly impressive. After years of flight, we reach the giant planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, which are far from the sun.
Now we are so far away from Earth, and yet the starry sky has not changed. The constellations still look the same as we know them from Earth. It's freezing cold and dangerous here in the realm of the giant planets. We encounter violent storms that are much more violent than on Earth. And there are even active lava-spewing volcanoes.
On our return flight to Earth, however, the planet Mars also shows its unfriendly, stormy side. It's much more pleasant on Earth's moon. Although the other planets are very exciting worlds, they are very different from the life-friendly Earth, which is teeming with creatures.
